Hi Beautiful! 💛 You’re not doing anything wrong — grey roots, especially around the temples, can be super resistant.
Our 8G Golden Blonde Super Gloss is a semi-permanent color-depositing gloss, so it adds pigment, shine, and softness, but it doesn’t work the same way as permanent color. Permanent color penetrates inside the hair to permanently alter the color and cover greys, while semi-permanent color deposits pigment more gently on the outside of the hair. That’s why our gloss is better for blending, toning, adding shine, and refreshing color, but may not fully cover resistant greys.
Grey hair often has a more compact cuticle, so the color may sit more sheer or only lightly blend instead of fully covering — especially in stubborn areas like the temples.
A few tips that may help:
- Apply to clean, dry hair
- Work in very small sections
- Use a tint brush and fully saturate the roots instead of just combing it through
- Apply extra product to the temples since they’re usually the most resistant
That said, since you already processed for over an hour, your greys may need a demi or permanent color if your goal is full root coverage. 8G is best for soft blending, golden tone, shine, and softness — not complete grey coverage.
You can still use it to refresh your color and make your hair feel gorgeous, but for full grey coverage, a stronger color option may be the better route. 💛✨
