Kids want to dye ends-help!

  • Hi Brad!

my 11yr old & 10 year old have asked to dye the ends of their hair- both dirty blonde/light brown!
where do I start?! I only want to dye the ends so that we can chop it when school starts...one has straight hair the other is curls

    Thank you so much ❤️

  • Hi Beautiful! ❤️ That’s such a fun way for them to express themselves—and I love that you’re keeping it low-commitment by only coloring the ends!

Since their hair is dirty blonde/light brown, you can go straight in with a semi-permanent color (like our XMONDO Color shades!). While our colors don’t require bleach, keep in mind that kids’ hair tends to be very healthy with a compact cuticle, so the color might not stick as well. For the most vibrant results, we recommend lightening the ends first.

If you’d prefer to skip bleach, go for bold shades like Amethyst, Super Purple, Berry, Garnet, or Red—these tend to show up best on natural hair.

If you do choose to bleach, mix bleach with 20 volume developer and apply it to the ends until they reach a pale yellow (about 20–30 minutes). Then shampoo and dry the hair. Now it’s time for color! Apply our color, making sure the hair is fully saturated, then process for 20–30 minutes and rinse!

When school starts, a quick trim will take it right off. It’s the perfect way to have fun with color! 💕✨
